Have you ever been interested in Fostering or Adopting? What about being a mentor to a child?
Charles Paragian and Daniel Sernekos from the documentary " All Aboard Rosie's Family Cruise" and founder of Everybody's Children Foundation will be your hosts for an evening of information about getting started on becoming a foster parent and/or adoptive parent.
Hearing from adoptive parents from all diversities and adoptive parents and their experiences and how to make the transition as smooth as possible.
Example: Did you know that it costs nothing to adopt a foster child in New Jersey other then your love and time?
By attending this Information party, we will help to make your transition as smooth as possible making your dream of being a foster parent or adoptive parent a reality and giving a child a forever home of their own.
Right now there are over 5,790 kids waiting to be adopted in New Jersey and with the help of the community we can make a difference. WE as a community can lower this number and give ALL children what they deserve, a loving forever home.
One child at a time, one smile at a time.
To attend you must contact us: A donation of $5.00 per person is asked made out to Everybody's Children Foundation for reservations. Seating is limited so make your reservations early. There will be soft beverages and light food.
Guest speakers to be announced.
NJ Children's Aid and Family services will be attending and speaking along with DYFS.

So, what did we learn?
It costs nothing to adopt a child from the foster system and in fact the state pays for the adoption process.
It takes three, three hour courses to become a mentor with NJ Children and Family Aid
To become a foster parent it takes 27 hours of class and everyone 18 or older must attend the classes.
To be an adoptive parent, after taking the same amount of classes there is a six month "trial" period before you can adopt a foster child. This gives you a chance and the child a chance to see if it will work out.
If you have any other questions about the foster, adoptive or mentor programs of NJ please don't hesitate to send me an email and I will answer the questions and if I cannot I will get the answers for you.
I must say, DYFS and NJ Children and Family Aid came out with force for our event. They answered questions, gave of their time and spoke from the heart from experience. It gives me great pleasure to help bring awareness and a few children a chance at forever homes so they can experience the love we have in our home.
